Soccer, the most popular sport in the world with over 4 billion followers, has been around for more than 2,000 years ago. Records trace it back to Ancient China but Greece, Rome, and parts of Central America also claimed to have started the sport. But it was England that transitioned soccer or more widely known as football. They were the ones that were first credited for regulating the first rules such as no tripping and no touching the ball with your hands. As it got more popular and more developed, more rules were implemented such as the penalty kick which was introduced in 1891, the cards that every soccer player dreads: red and yellow cards were introduced in the 1970 World Cup finals.
